Privacy Statement

Data Protection Act 1998

The Data Protection Act 1998 protects the use of your personal data or information. This Privacy Policy sets out how we intend to use your personal information so that you can decide whether or not you wish to provide us with your personal information.

Our mortgage products are only available through a mortgage broker, financial adviser or other intermediary (we will refer to any such person or company as an 'intermediary'). If you decide to apply for a mortgage with GMAC-RFC you will initially provide that information to an intermediary who has selected our product for you based on the information you have provided.

Your personal information will then be passed to GMAC-RFC (either on-line or by post) to enable us to consider your application. We only accept mortgage introductions from intermediaries in the UK who will also be required to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 in relation to any personal information provided to them.

If your mortgage application is received by us on-line, your personal information will be protected by a secure server that implements Secure Socket Layer technology. This technology is designed to prevent any person from gaining access to the mortgage application or registration information whilst it is on our site or being transmitted across the internet.

If you decide to apply for a mortgage with us, we will use the information you provide to us to carry out a search with a licensed credit reference agency. This may make use of information recorded by that agency against your name but in respect of a property different from that you tell us is your current address.

If you do apply for a mortgage with us you should also refer to the further details relating to the use of your personal information set out in our mortgage application form.
